Friday Find: Bridal Fitness

We all want to look stunning in wedding photos and with that new addition on your left ring finger, there's suddenly a little more motivation. So which workout is best for you? There are so many options these days like bootcamps, gyms, and even extreme workouts like Insanity and Crossfit. No one workout is best for everyone, so we've included some suggestions below:

  • Insanity
    • 10 workout DVDs focusing on plyometrics, interval training and core work. From Alyssa's personal experience, this workout works wonders. From Laura's personal two-week experience, she would much rather be sitting in front of the TV than running in front of the TV.
  • Crossfit
    • high-intensity workouts, constantly changing functional movements.
  • Pure Barre
    • 55 minute in class workouts focusing on sculpting and toning your muscles
  • 30 Day Challenges
    • daily workouts for a month with several selections for just one area of your body or a full beach body focus
Grab a friend (oh hey, bridesmaids!) and get your sweat on! Always remember to listen to your body and consider working with a trainer to prevent injury. Have a workout you love that isn't listed? Let us know by commenting below!

Pre-wedding Dates

We know that planning a wedding can sometimes be overwhelming! But, it's important not to lose sight of what's really important, and that's celebrating the love and life of two people just beginning their journey together. In honor of a lifetime of great memories to come, here are a few fun ways to spend quality time with your beau or belle while preparing for your wedding day:

Take a cooking class together

Committing a couple of hours to cooking with someone you love is a great way to relax and enjoy each other's company, while learning something you can take forward with you into your life together.

Check out The Glendalia's Cooking Class CalendarThe Learning Kitchen, and Jungle Jim's for openings!

Do-It-Yourselves Project

Working on something together is a great way to remind you both of what you love about your fiancé. Little projects can help showcase your partner's strengths and create sweet memories. There's only one rule: whether it's painting a bird house or planting a tree in the front yard, make sure to take pictures of your work and send them to us at The Center! ;)

Play "Tourists" in your own town

Whether you were both born and raised in the place you call home, or you're new to town, it can be a lot of fun to let your city surprise you! Pick out a couple of "attractions," pack a bag, and set out to explore and take tons of cheesy photos for an afternoon.

Find Water

If you're like us and you live in Cincinnati, this shouldn't be too difficult! Find a body of water, natural or man-made and spend an afternoon fishing, sunbathing, swimming, or kayaking with your fiancé!

Train for a Race Together

Cincinnati is home to some of the most amazing walks and races! You can sign up for anything from a 5K to a full marathon, and training together is the perfect way to make sure you both look your very best when you're posing for pics at The Center on your wedding day.

Write A Song

Maybe, even as you read this, a love ballad has already started to write itself in your mind. Or...maybe a parody of a popular song is more your speed! Either way, write a song with your fiancé; whether you keep it to yourselves, dance to it in your kitchen, or sing it at your wedding, music is a fun, free way to bring you closer and get you laughing.

Show Some Skin!

At the Bridal Expo last weekend, we got to see vendors from all over the industry spectrum! One of the wonderful folks we met was Tricia Re. She is a registered nurse and also does work with Arbonne, a company dedicated to simplicity and purity when it comes to all types of well-being. Their products are botanically based, hypoallergenic using European standards, and are certified vegan.  We were lucky enough to score some talk time with her and she offered some phenomenal tips for health and skincare on the week before your wedding!

"Make sure you get adequate sleep and drink plenty of water.  Be sure to do your skin care regimen both in the morning and before bed!  Choose a skin care brand that formulates without harmful, cancer causing ingredients.  Many harmful ingredients contribute to skin irritation and breakouts."

"I truly believe people want to make healthier decisions but often let price be the determining factor, rather than ingredients.  Your skin is your largest organ & acts as a delivery system to the rest of your body.  According to the EPA, 26 seconds after exposure to a chemical, traces can be found in every organ of your body."

According to Tricia, some ingredients to avoid in your health care products include:
"Parabens, GMO's (Genetically Modified Organisms), synthetic dyes and fragrances, Petroleum derived ingredients like Mineral oil or Petrolatum, Phthalates & Propopylene Glycol to name a few."

"I recommend having a salicylic acid based spot treatment and a good concealer on hand for a quick fix in case the bride is caught off guard by a surprise the day before her wedding!

"My best piece of advice would be what my dad told me before we walked down the isle, 'I know you planned this day for a long time, but if anything isn't exactly how you planned you are the only one who will notice.'  Relax and enjoy your day!!!"

- TRICIA RE, RN

Tricia included that she would love to answer any further questions and offer free samples of Arbonne products to interested brides! You may get in contact with her at (513)708-7854 or triciare44@gmail.com.
